june.

I realized this morning, as I looked at my blog that I never blogged in June. OOPS. Yes, June 2011 did happen in my life. In fact it was a very crazy month. Let me sum it up for you now…

June 1 we welcomed 15 new interns that are serving with us this summer. I spent a lot of time planning for our Vacation Bible School (VBS) which begins this coming Monday and will continue through July and August. It is the first ever VBS for Mission of Hope and I have been blessed to help organize it and now direct it. It has been overwhelming at times, as I have never been involved in organizing an American VBS before much less a Haitian VBS, but a great adventure. Amazing how the Lord equips you for things you never dreamed you could do. I also spent a lot of time the first two weeks of June preparing for being away for 2 weeks. I traveled home for two weddings…June 18 my incredible older sister got married and June 25 my great friend and past roommate Meg Ryan got married. It was so much fun to be apart of both weddings and see two amazing couples join in marriage.

Rehearsal dinner for Megan's wedding. So happy Matt is officially apart of the Whittier family!

Rehearsal for Meg's wedding. Love and miss these girls so much.

Journey’s youth team was in Haiti serving when I returned to MOH. It has been a terrific week serving with them and a great week back in Haiti. I was so encouraged by each one of them and am so thankful to have them in my life. I know I'm a little bias, but I have the best hometown and home church ever. I’m telling you…Norman has incredible people there!

As July begins, I ask for prayer for our VBS. Like I mentioned, this is the first ever VBS here and we have the opportunity to take the Gospel message to 200 children a week. It is an honor to be put in charge of this and I ask that you partner with me in prayer as it unfolds. That every child would experience Christ in new ways, maybe for the first time ever, and they would feel an overwhelming amount of love and joy every minute they spend with us. That as they leave our campus and tell their families and communities about their time at VBS, that Christ would shine through and these kids would be a light to their people. It is going to be a historic summer for MOH and I know the Lord is going to do move in mighty ways.
